About TX School Options
TX School Options (the long form is Texas School Options) is a directory of the ways to learn outside public school in Texas: private schools, hybrid and university-model schools, microschools, homeschool co-ops, classes, tutors, therapists and support groups. Houston is live now, and it is the only metro with listings today. More Texas metros are coming. We started in Houston because it has one of the largest homeschooling populations in the state and no single, searchable place to find a program. Most families still find one through Facebook groups and word of mouth. Faith is a filter here, not a gate: browse everything, or filter to Christian, Catholic, or explicitly secular programs, or go straight to our Christian and Catholic directory if that's what you're looking for.
How we make money
Listing a program here is free, and so is claiming it. When a family asks a program for information, the request goes straight to that program, free, every time. We don't sell leads, and there are no ads.
Programs can pay for two things. Enhanced gives a listing a larger card with a photo, and a photo gallery on its page. It never changes the order of results. Featured puts a listing first on one area page for its kind of program, with no more than two on a page, each marked "Featured · Paid". Nothing else about the order can be bought, and the Verified checkmark is never for sale.
Later, a few spots in our monthly email to families will be for sale too, each one marked as sponsored. How the paid plans work.
Listings are not endorsements. We source program data from public records (the Texas Education Freedom Account vendor and school lists, public community lists) and from program leaders who claim and edit their own listing. See our review policy for how reviews are moderated.
