Private schools in Houston

320 listings. Full-time private schools, religious and secular, including special-education schools.

A private school here means full-time, five-day-a-week enrollment, kindergarten through twelfth grade, run by a religious or secular organization rather than a public district. Most are small to mid-sized, some run a single campus, others run several. A handful also sell individual classes to homeschool families outside full enrollment; when they do, that a la carte offering shows up on its own under Classes & Enrichment, not here.

This fits a family ready to hand the whole school day to someone else: fixed hours, a set calendar, teachers for every subject, and a building to drop your kid off at in the morning. It's the highest cost option on this site, usually billed as annual tuition, and it's the least flexible on schedule. Grades run the full K-12 range, though not every school serves every grade.

What to ask before you tour:

  • Which agency accredited the school, and whether that agency is TEPSAC-recognized
  • What the faith statement says and how strictly it applies to families versus staff
  • Whether any part-time, hybrid, or a la carte enrollment exists alongside full-time
  • What tuition actually includes, and what's billed separately
  • Open house dates and the current application timeline

On TEFA: accreditation is the one fact that decides your award, not how the school markets itself. A school accredited by a TEPSAC-recognized agency, that has run at least two years at a Texas location, qualifies its families for up to $10,474 a year, or up to $30,000 if a student has an IEP on file. A school without that accreditation caps its families at the flat $2,000 amount, no matter how established or well-known it is. You cannot tell which side of that line a school sits on from its name, its tuition, or how the campus looks. The state's own school finder is still sparse, so don't treat it as the final word either. Ask the school directly which agency accredited it and confirm that agency's TEPSAC status yourself.

If full-time isn't the right fit yet, compare this against Hybrid & University-Model Schools, which keep some of the classroom structure with fewer days on campus.

Private schools get their own section here instead of being folded into a general list, because a full-time, five-day school is a genuinely different commitment than a co-op, a class, or a couple of campus days a week. Every full-time private school in this area shows up below, sectioned separately so it can't crowd out the smaller, more flexible options this site was built to surface in the first place.

If you're piecing together a week out of co-ops, classes, and maybe a couple of hybrid days rather than a five-day school, use the Part-time and flexible only toggle above the results. It hides every listing whose delivery model is full-time, leaving co-ops, hybrid and university-model schools, microschools, classes, and tutoring in view. It's the fastest way to skip past a long private-school list when full-time schooling isn't what you're looking for today.

Either way, nothing here is hidden by default. A school shows up whether or not it's set up for homeschool families specifically, so you can see the whole picture and decide for yourself.
