Questions to ask
How do I find a homeschool tutor in Houston?
Start with recommendations from your co-op or support group, then use the filters on this hub to narrow by subject, area, and format. Word of mouth is still how most Houston families find a tutor they trust.
What should I look for in a homeschool tutor?
Relevant subject expertise, experience working with homeschooled students specifically, and a teaching style that fits your child. A short trial session is a good way to check fit before committing.
Can TEFA funds pay for private tutoring?
Private tutoring is on the state's official list of allowable TEFA expenses, so it's generally a supported category. Confirm the specific tutor is an approved TEFA vendor before assuming your account can pay them directly.
