Questions to ask
Do homeschoolers have PE requirements in Texas?
Texas gives homeschool families broad flexibility to set their own requirements, including PE, since homeschools are treated as private schools under state law with no state-mandated curriculum. Many families still choose to include regular PE for their child's overall development and, in some cases, for transcript purposes.
Can TEFA funds pay for homeschool sports leagues?
Generally no. Purely recreational sports are excluded from TEFA's case-by-case enrichment approvals and are not on the official allowable-expense list, so plan to cover league and team costs separately.
How do I find a homeschool sports league in Houston?
Use the area and age filters on this hub. Houston has both competitive homeschool athletic associations and more casual, co-op-run leagues, so it's worth deciding which fit you want before you start calling around.
