Private schools in Alief

17 listings. Full-time private schools, religious and secular, including special-education schools.

Alief is one of the most diverse communities in Southwest Houston, a large, dense area where private schools tend to run smaller and more varied in mission than the big-campus schools further out in Sugar Land or Katy. Families here are often choosing a full-time program that reflects the neighborhood's own range of cultures and languages rather than a single dominant tradition.

Alief sits close enough to Sugar Land and Missouri City, both around 11 to 12 minutes away, that a lot of private-school searching here naturally spills into those two suburbs, which carry more overall private-school density. Richmond/Rosenberg is a longer trip, closer to 23 minutes, worth considering mainly if a specific school there is the right fit.

As with any private school in Houston, what actually decides your TEFA award tier is accreditation, not tuition or reputation. A school accredited by a TEPSAC-recognized agency that has run at least two years at a Texas campus qualifies its families for up to $10,474 a year. Without that accreditation, the flat $2,000 amount applies regardless of how the school markets itself. Ask directly before you tour.
