Special needs and therapies in Montgomery County

12 listings. Educational therapy, speech, OT, dyslexia support and evaluations.

Special needs and therapy providers in Montgomery County work mostly as a la carte practices, and almost all are described as staffed. The Woodlands has the most, followed by Conroe, Porter/New Caney and Magnolia, with Montgomery adding a little. Speech and language support and dyslexia services are named most often.

Delivery is unusual for how many practices lean on it: most run a hybrid of in-person and online sessions. That fits a county where a family in Porter/New Caney or Magnolia may be a long drive from a clinic in The Woodlands, and it is a good reason to ask about telehealth before you commit to a weekly slot.

The money side has one rule worth knowing early. The larger TEFA amount, up to $30,000, goes only to a student with an IEP who attends an accredited private school. A homeschooler with an IEP receives the flat $2,000, and the state has said the two cannot be combined. Nearly all of the providers here appear on the approved-vendor rolls, which lets that $2,000 go to therapy directly. Ask each practice which of its services are covered.
