Private schools in Montgomery County

26 listings. Full-time private schools, religious and secular, including special-education schools.

Private schools in Montgomery County split almost evenly between The Woodlands and Conroe, with Magnolia, Porter/New Caney and Montgomery carrying the rest. A family in the county seat and a family in the master-planned city are choosing from different mixes: Conroe leans toward non-denominational, Catholic and Adventist campuses, and The Woodlands spans more than one Christian tradition.

Many of the schools state a faith and many do not, and most are open to families outside their own church. Grades run from Pre-K through twelfth across the cluster, with art, PE, math, foreign language and Bible among the subjects named, on weekday schedules.

The drive is real in this county. The Woodlands and Conroe are about 19 minutes apart, Willis is 14 minutes from Conroe, and Spring and Klein are more than 30 minutes from Conroe, so most families pick a school they can reach twice a day. Carpools and extended care are worth asking about early.

Money-wise, tuition and fees at a registered private school are an allowed TEFA expense, and the award tier follows accreditation. A TEPSAC-recognized agency plus two years at a Texas campus can unlock up to $10,474 a year, and without it a family is capped at $2,000. Applications for the next school year are expected to open in early 2027, though the date was not fixed at last check.
